Silverlake Walker Mural (click for large)
Found via Lonely Sandwich. Check out the Lonely Sandwich blog about it for the full good story:

The other day, I’m walking in my neighborhood not to stay in shape, but to get a burrito and I see a guy painting a mural with various depictions of the Walker around town. I get my burrito. Shrimp. Really frickin good. Not five minutes later, I see the Walker and he’s heading in the direction of the mural. “Oh shit,” I think to myself. “He’s gonna be pissed.”

If I should ever die, God forbid...

“If I should ever die, God forbid, let this be my epitaph:
THE ONLY PROOF HE NEEDED
FOR THE EXISTENCE OF GOD
WAS MUSIC”

- Kurt Vonnegut Jr, as quoted in “Vonnegut’s Blues For America” Sunday Herald (7 January 2006)

I know I’ve posted this quote before. It’s one of my favorites. Thanks music, for being around. I’m glad I’m not a raccoon or a pineapple.

Oh would you look at that. It’s the reason I slept through my alarm this morning.

Town Without Pity - by Gene Pitney

This just happened:

EXT. BEVERLY BLVD. - DAY
A Pontiac Vibe cruises along as Town Without Pity blares at an unreasonable level from the windows.

INT. PONTIAC VIBE - CONTINUOUS
Dave Seger, 26, blurry eyed and smiles does his best Gene Pitney impression in time with the music. He’s clearly too proud of something. Maybe his music or his day so far. He stops at a red light, squinching his face to sing along.

WOMAN (OS)
Hey! Hey!

Dave, confused, turns down the music and turns to face a middle-aged Korean WOMAN, wearing sunglasses and a windbreaker, shouting from her large black SUV.

DAVE
Huh?

WOMAN
Nice music!

The woman gives Dave a thumbs up, then an “OK” sign, then a thumbs up again. The light turns green and Dave drives off shouting half a “thanks” while turning the music back up. It’s a nice day outside.
